Saturday, 6 May – 10am to 5pm
Come along and join the celebrations at our live screen event, where a ‘live’ stream of the BBC’s King’s Coronation timetable will be shown. For younger audiences, we have a programme of activities lined up to keep them entertained. Bring along your picnic hampers or purchase food and beverages from the onsite trade stalls.
The Coronation Special Open Top Bus Tours
Saturday, 6 & Sunday, 7 May
The hop-on, hop-off tours will take place from the Medway Visitor Information Centre coach bays starting at 10am with the last bus departing at 4pm. Narrated by Medway Arts Tours, the ‘live’ guide will portray Queen Victoria, providing historical accounts of the queens and kings that have visited Medway from the past to the present times.
Rochester Cathedral Street Party
6 May – 10am-6pm
Bring along your picnic and blanket and watch the Coronation ceremony on the screens inside the cathedral. The Nave will be emptied of chairs, allowing groups to picnic in the medieval cathedral. A picnic bench with a difference is available – The Jubilee Oak Table. Seats around the table will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis throughout the day.
The Big Lunch & Coronation Concert
Sunday, 7 May – 10am-6pm-10pm
The Big Lunch brings neighbours and communities together to share friendship, food and fun. If you’re not having your own street party, come along to the castle gardens with your picnic hamper and watch the large-screen events and enjoy the family activities taking place.
