The first group started in Angus close on 17 years ago and we now have groups in Brechin, Montrose, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Carnoustie/Monifieth and what I refer to as Laurencekirk but covers Edzell to St. Cyrus. At last there are signs of movement in Arbroath.
Our aim is to try to alleviate loneliness in older people through free monthly tea parties. The teas are held on one Sunday a month and volunteer drivers collect, accompany and return our guests. Volunteer hosts provide the venue, usually their home, and the food. No expenses are paid.
Our guests are over 70, live alone with little or no social contact, and generally need help to get out.
We are holding a special tea in Letham Hall on Volunteering Monday to celebrate the coronation, and for some of our guests, this will be their third coronation.
When we celebrated 50 years of the charity a few years ago.
We are expecting around 120 guests and volunteers to the event, which will begin at 2.00pm and finish by 4.00pm
